The influence of Katsushika Hokusai

The influence of Katsushika Hokusai

(The influence of Katsushika Hokusai by Julie)

The Great Wave by Hokusai is an image
Most people have seen in some formation.
What I enjoyed most about this exhibition at
SAM was the inspiration Hokusai had on many artists and their work.
Upon entry to the exhibition , to the left is a huge watercolor, black and white wave. This piece has not left my mind since I set my eyes on it.
Having spent my formative years  on  the beaches of LA;  where I swam, body surfed and
roamed the rocks and cliffs, the Pacific Ocean
   was my playground.
The large wave by
Peter Soranio
brought back the memories of being crushed, and thrashed by the power of waves.

Completely out of control, my life was in the hands of Mother Earth. It was better to submit than fight the turbulence knew if I relaxed I would come up to the surface. Feeling triumphant,  come up
with sand in every orifice is what I did. Then I went back for more!
